Wait, let me rephrase:
I have a hobby that has become a problem. No, I don't need an intervention, a 12-step program, or anyone to light a candle for me. Because, see, the promblem isn't mine ... it's my husband's.
I love furniture. Especially orphan furniture. And he hates that I bring home wayward dressers, sad and pathetic magazine tables, and benches looking for a hand-up, not a hand-out. I can't seem to say no to cheap, desperately-in-need-of-a-coat-of-paint-to-make-it-all-better, carved and cabrioled pieces of furniture. They just sing to me from across the flea market tarmac. And I answer the call, immediately deciding how I'm going to fit it into the car, what color it will become, and where it will go.
And what I'm going to tell my husband.
Case in point: Last week I went out to some local shops and estate sales. I didn't go in the hopes of finding anything bigger than a breadbox. But then I found this cabinet. It weighs a ton and a half, had spiders living in it, has peeling veneer, won't fit up the stairs, and I love it love it love it.
In hopes of keeping marital harmony, I got rid of a rather small, very plain dresser. I think it's a good exchange, don't you?

I hear you~ but I resisted a call for a footsool today~ I did however cry over it's scratched legs and call it "Poor Baby"~ but alas~ the poor baby did not come home with me (today)~S
GAH!
I love it. I love it. I wish it was mine.
Oh wow....that is a gorgeous piece of furniture. I think trading a small dresser for it was very fair...tee hee.

Well I think it is perfect. It would certainly call me from across the fleamarket too!
I think our husband is a polygamist!
My husband has the same problem. My "junk" bothers him way too much. You made a very good trade and the new cabinet is BEAUTIFUL!!!
Regarding the banning of orphan furniture purchases - PRETTY MUCH!!!
OMGosh--it's gorgeous!!! I can see why you had to have it. I had to laugh, my hub is the same way...he gets that look on his face and his eyes start rolling around in their sockets! "Now where in the heck are we gonna put THAT?--Oh for gosh sakes KAREN!"
I just TRY to look guilty.
Smiles, Karn
I LOVE IT - and totally claim it if you ever want to get rid of it - or Mark wants to get rid of you because of it! I would evne let you visit it every oncce in awhile!
It was great talking to you today! Miss you!
THIS is the cabinet you couldn't get up the stairs?! I can immediately see why you bought it. I think it looks better in your guest room than your craft room anyways!
